About My Work
In my images, I explore introspection and self-analysis through the themes of urban solitude, the passage of time, and the relationship between a city and its people. Each view of a city can sometimes feel disconnected from others' experiences – out of focus, dislocated, and ever-changing.
I combine digital work with historic, “alternative” processes like kallitype, cyanotype, and salt printing. I typically start with digital photos and edit them to make interesting black-and-white images. The digital negative is created and then used for contact printing. The chemistry is hand-mixed and manually applied, and then the prints are developed, washed, toned and fixed in numerous baths. Each print is a labor of love and no two are alike.
