Quiet photographs, made by hand

What stays with us when we don't take the path we almost took?

I make images and objects about what it feels like to stand at a crossroads and not move yet. Each piece is handmade using century-old photographic processes, because some things can only be said slowly.

Recent Work

This process blends cyanotype and cuprotype [copper] chemistry in a single print. The shadows form Prussian Blue. The highlights form Hatchett’s Brown that shifts warm. Two chemistries, one exposure, and the print sorts itself into cool and warm based on where the light fell.

If a piece stays with you, I'd like to hear about it. Select work is available as limited edition prints. Reach out and we can talk about what's available and what it's like to live with.

Mixing old and new

I pair digital photography with historic, “alternative” processes like cyanotype, kallitype and polymer photogravure. I mix and brush on the chemistry by hand, then develop each print through a series of baths. The results are imperfect in the best way: physical and always one of a kind.

The slowness isn't a limitation — it's the point.

These processes reward the kind of close attention that most of the world has moved past. The finished piece carries that attention with it.
